Day Off

After too much wine,
I finally awake
To locate you
In the stillness,
Slouching by the open window,
Reading, smiling,
In knickers and a slinky t.

If you were any softer,
Any warmer,
Any mellower,
You’d just melt away
Into the charisma
Of the thickness
Of the summer morning air.

Your unharassed lips
And gleaming, winsome eyes,
Invite me into day,
Day without apprehension.
Yes, I can feel
Your relaxed mind
From here.
